Summary

This study aims to present pedagogic implications for Korean argumentative writing education by contrasting the engagement in Korean and Chinese newspaper editorials. The analysis revealed that both Korean and Chinese editorials used more heterogloss, but significant differences were found in dialogic expansion and contraction. This suggests that Korean editorials tend to focus more on expected rebuts, while Chinese editorials lean towards one-sided arguments.
