Summary

This study traces the politics and changes of the collective memory of the US military camp town in Itaewon, Seoul, revealing how nationalistic interpretations have defined the women of the camp town through an analysis of the documentary "Itaewon." The women's choices can be interpreted as resistance to Korean patriarchy, but the study demonstrates how nationalist ideology is commercialized with New Town redevelopment, forming a new exclusivity.
