Summary

This study predicted and analyzed the effect of high-rise building construction on the sunshine environment in a newtown using a sunshine duration model based on GIS data. The shadow length formed by the new buildings was predicted to be 205-270m (about three times the building height) when the solar altitude was low, and the gross shadow area increased by 17.5% on the winter solstice. The gross shadow area for an apartment complex located to the north-northwest of the construction site increased by 87.6% on the winter solstice, indicating significant damage.
