Summary

This study examined the mediating effect of internalized problems on the relationship between primary caregiver’s parenting attitude and school adjustment of adolescents in out-of-home care. The results showed that positive parenting attitudes increased school adjustment, but depression/anxiety did not mediate the relationship, while social withdrawal did. There were no differences based on the caregiver’s familial relationship, suggesting that family function is more important than family structure.
