This study analyzes the movies and to reveal that ‘forgiveness’ and ‘reconciliation’ in 1980s films are elements that reveal the violent governance of the Chun Doo-Hwan regime. Comparing the films with their original novels, the study shows that while based on family narratives, resistance of the poor and historical issues are diluted, and patriarchal power and capital logic are strengthened. This forgiveness and reconciliation are unilaterally demanded of victims and contain the problem of concealing social injustice and showing invisible violence.
