Summary

This study phenomenologically investigated the participation types and meanings of arts education among non-major college students. The results revealed two participation types: ‘single type’ (participation only in campus arts clubs) and ‘multiple type’ (participation in clubs, external lessons, and regular courses), with differences in the meaning and perceived effects of arts education based on each type. This suggests the need to consider the diverse needs of non-major students in developing arts education policies.
