Summary

This study analyzed the process of an elderly person reflecting on and making meaning of life after experiencing an injury through a life narrative approach. The results showed that the elderly reconstructed their identity and transformed their way of life through processes such as “living desperately to die or live,” “slowly dying process,” “looking back on past life,” and “living again” in a crisis situation. This suggests that the crisis of aging can be an opportunity for identity reconstruction, and emphasizes the importance of conversational relationships that can reconstruct the meaning of life.
