This study analyzes the evolution of the U.S.-China competition for technological hegemony through the case of digital platform competition. Starting from the competition in computing and mobile platforms, the U.S.-China platform competition has expanded to areas such as internet search, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, SNS, video, OTT, and games, with future competition expected in e-commerce and fintech. This competition is intensifying beyond simple competition among companies to become a competition between countries, with the U.S. and China engaging in a “platform of platforms” competition.
