Summary

This study analyzes the process of ‘mythologization’ where the Swedish cosmetics company utilizes the Norse mythology goddess Idun and the apple of youth to build a brand image and deliver a positive impression to consumers. It explores how a brand is reproduced as a myth through the lens of storytelling, using Rapaille’s ‘cultural code’ and Barthes’ semiotic concept of ‘myth’.
