This study reviewed 19 prior studies on private health insurance (PHI) for Korean older adults published from 2015 to 2019, examining enrollment barriers and the relationship between medical utilization and health outcomes. Factors hindering enrollment included old age, low income, low education, and chronic disease, while PHI was positively associated with subjective health status and health-related quality of life.
