Summary

Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in South Korea, and while in-hospital mortality rates for acute myocardial infarction have improved, regional disparities remain. To address these disparities and improve the quality of cardiovascular care, the establishment of a Korean Cardiovascular Registry and the expansion of regional cardio-cerebrovascular centers are necessary, requiring collaboration between the government, medical institutions, and academic societies. Establishing a community-level emergency response system based on the Act on the Prevention and Management of Cardio-cerebrovascular Disease is also crucial.
