Summary

This study investigated the experiences and perceptions of pre-service elementary teachers regarding swimming education to derive implications for improving professionalism. The results showed that the pre-service teachers' swimming experiences were centered around recreational water activities, and swimming education experience was focused on stroke proficiency during elementary school. Most pre-service teachers recognized a lack of swimming education competency and suggested strengthening swimming education in teacher training institutions and developing survival swimming-focused education programs.
