Summary
This study aimed to identify the competencies required for new social workers through qualitative research. The results showed that both new social workers and social workers with middle managers or higher considered practical competence, relationship building competence, insight competence, reflective attitude, tool competence, and internal competence to be important, with social workers with middle managers or higher additionally requiring research competence.
