This study examines the shapes of Korean characters in the novels of Dong-buk writers in the 1930s and 40s and the socio-historical background of the time. Korean characters in their works were depicted as partners in the anti-Japanese and anti-war movements, those sharing the sorrow of displacement and national loss, and ethnic minorities creating social evil, which were used as literary tools to awaken the Chinese people based on the experience of losing sovereignty.
