Summary

This study qualitatively analyzed the changed behavioral characteristics of adults with developmental disabilities who experienced school-age violence trauma through expressive art therapy. The results showed that participants initially expressed anger towards the perpetrator, but began to comfortably discuss painful memories in the mid-phase, and demonstrated a positive resolution of past memories in the final phase. This suggests that expressive art therapy is a useful intervention strategy for alleviating trauma wounds and promoting positive behavioral changes in adults with developmental disabilities.
