Summary

This study re-examines the literary competence of North Korean defecting adolescents from an intercultural perspective, viewing them as subjects with different cultural backgrounds rather than as deficient beings. The literary competence of these adolescents consists of literary literacy developed through experiences in North Korea, acceptance and production abilities, and self-reflection skills, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and developing these through evaluation. Evaluation criteria include the tension between homogeneity and heterogeneity towards Korean literature, prior knowledge, and genre-specific acceptance-production abilities.
