This study explores a new ontology for the Anthropocene era by dialoguing with the Western ontological turn through the lens of the Korean concept of ‘Nim.’ New animism in the West views all things as ‘persons,’ which resonates with ‘Nim’ in Korean and has significant implications for recognizing non-human beings as personhood in the Anthropocene. The research examines the tradition of ‘Nim’ ontology in Korean thought through the works of Lee Kyu-bo and Han Yong-un, exploring the potential of ‘Nimology.’
