Summary

This study explores the problem of time in Levinas, revealing that the concept of time plays a central role throughout his philosophy. Levinas referred to the concept of time while contemplating various themes such as the constitution of the self, alterity, and ethical relations, and the ethical and metaphysical dimensions within his thought can become clearer through a review of the issue of time. Although it is difficult to derive a single theory of time from Levinas’s writings, a consistent temporal structure can be extracted from his thought.
