This study explored the experiential aspects of life changes for professional female dancers after childbirth, focusing on the concepts of ‘social body’ and ‘identity’ through narrative inquiry. The results revealed three main categories: bodily changes and subjective loss, social prejudice and fear of returning to dance, and self-conquest and motherhood. The social and cultural loss experienced by professional female dancers after pregnancy and childbirth, as manifested through the ‘social body’, highlights the need for further research in dance studies.
