A Study on the Need for Senior Playground Based on Evaluation of Universal Design Index
This study analyzed the installation status and user behavior of playgrounds in apartment complexes based on universal design evaluation factors to derive necessary factors for expanding senior playgrounds in preparation for the rapidly aging society. The results showed that playgrounds in apartment complexes with a high proportion of elderly residents have difficulties in smooth use due to safety issues, lack of accessibility, and insufficient exercise equipment, and communication with users is also limited due to a lack of information systems. To address these issues and prepare for the increasing elderly population, it is necessary to designate senior playgrounds and introduce related facilities and programs to promote the health and social interaction of the elderly.
