Summary

This study verified the growth inhibition effects of Microcystis aeruginosa (M. aeruginosa) using high and low-frequency ultrasound irradiation in a lab-scale experiment. Low-frequency irradiation was more effective in rapidly decreasing chl-a concentration and M. aeruginosa cell numbers compared to high frequency, attributed to increased cell membrane permeability and internal organ damage. The release of the toxic substance microcystin-LR after ultrasound treatment was below the detection limit, indicating minimal harm to aquatic ecosystems.
