Summary

This study analyzed the deinstitutionalization process and independent living experiences of 9 persons with disabilities participating in the community care program in Jeju, using content analysis. The analysis revealed two main themes: "The Journey of Finding a Better Me" and "Suggestions for a Better Independent Life," encompassing 6 categories and 13 subcategories. The study proposes practical and policy implications to improve the effectiveness of the program and support independent living in the community.
