Summary

This study investigated how highly educated elementary school English teachers perceive the types of English teachers and their identity and professionalism as elementary English educators. The results showed that teachers, after majoring in elementary English education in graduate school, generally had confidence and pride in English teaching while working as homeroom or English subject teachers. While homeroom teachers valued their closeness to students but struggled with heavy workloads, English subject teachers appreciated the time for lesson preparation but felt distant from students.
