Summary
This study explored the adaptation experiences of rural elderly living alone while using smart home services through focus group interviews and analyzed using grounded theory methodology. The analysis revealed that the elderly adapt to smart homes slowly but surely with the help of ‘people’, and based on these findings, practical and policy implications were presented for the development of smart home technology based on elderly users and the establishment of an efficient delivery system.
