Summary

This study aims to compare and analyze the social studies of special education curricula in Korea and Japan to identify similarities and differences and obtain implications for future curriculum development. The analysis revealed that while the two curricula share a common identity as alternative curricula, they differ in school level, goal characteristics, content composition, and achievement standard presentation. These findings suggest the need for in-depth discussion considering the universality of the general curriculum and the specificity of the special curriculum.
