Summary

This study systematically analyzed the effectiveness of functional communication training (FCT) for reducing challenging behaviors in students with disabilities. The analysis revealed that FCT was more effective in increasing communication behavior; however, due to a lack of studies meeting quality indicators, it is currently difficult to recognize FCT as evidence-based practice. Future research should focus on conducting FCT studies that meet quality indicators to enhance its potential as evidence-based practice.
