Summary
This study identified the corset phenomenon appearing on the SNS (Instagram) of exercising women through netnography and analyzed its sociocultural meaning. The results showed that bra tops and leggings were revived as modern corsets, and exercise was emphasized as a means of body transformation. Furthermore, the corset phenomenon, involving body control and suppression in pursuit of a standardized body image, was found to contribute to the reproduction of femininity and the enhancement of sexual attractiveness.
