This study analyzes the operational condition of the Free Semester System (FSS) in Korean middle schools and suggests improvement plans. Survey results indicated a generally positive perception of the FSS's purpose and achievement among teachers and students, but differing views on its expansion. The study proposes institutional stabilization, enhancing policy trust, addressing overlapping issues within the curriculum, maintaining budget support, and strengthening teachers' digital competencies.
