This paper discusses the interpretation of special provisions for consumer contracts under the Amended Korean Private International Law Act, focusing on the text of Articles 42 and 47. With the rise in international consumer contract disputes due to the rapid development of internet transactions, accurate interpretation of the consumer contract provisions is necessary to protect the rights of Korean consumers in a country with significant cross-border shopping. The Amended Act separates the previous Article 27 and places the provisions for international jurisdiction (Article 42) and governing law (Article 47) respectively.
