Summary

This study investigated the suitability of the elementary math word-problem curriculum-based assessment for screening and progress monitoring of students with learning difficulties in 3rd and 4th grade. Analysis of longitudinal data from 3rd and 4th graders revealed that learning difficulties could be predicted based on a single unit for 4th graders, while progress monitoring was effective for 3rd graders. It is appropriate to identify students with learning difficulties in 3rd grade after collecting test results from at least two units.
