Summary
This study examined predictors of attitudes towards affirmative action in the recruitment process for public officials and private company employees, focusing on the role of meritocracy. The analysis revealed that age, egalitarian attitudes, social trust, caring attitudes toward the socially underprivileged, and attribution of poverty to societal factors were related to attitudes towards affirmative action. Furthermore, a stronger belief in meritocracy was associated with weaker support for affirmative action.
