Summary

This study explores metafiction devices in postmodern picturebooks to direct English literacy education in response to the changing society of the 21st century. While the educational value of picturebooks is recognized, there is a lack of awareness regarding new literacy skills needed to interpret information creatively. The study analyzes metafiction in 10 selected postmodern picturebooks and proposes teaching strategies focused on brainstorming and writing activities.
