This study aims to establish a foundation for research on the credit card market by comparing the domestic credit card transaction structure and merchants discount rate system with overseas cases. The results indicate that a simple comparison with overseas rates can be misleading, and government intervention is inevitable, but alleviating the burden on small merchants is necessary. In the long run, creating a market environment where merchants and credit card companies can autonomously determine the discount rate is crucial.
