This paper investigates the case of publication censorship experienced by Hyangsanjip, the collection of writings by Hyangsan Lee Man-do, during the Japanese colonial period. It analyzes the characteristics and censorship of Hyangsanjip submitted to the Japanese Government-General of Korea in 1931, and the records of the eight books that were not returned. Despite facing oppression from Japan, Hyangsanjip was eventually engraved and published after liberation.
