Summary

This study analyzed the perceptions of elementary school special education teachers regarding inclusive education and special classes through in-depth interviews. The results showed that special education teachers recognized the core of inclusive education as mutual recognition and congruence, and parents of children with disabilities considered social skills development and opportunities for integrated experiences as important. Furthermore, the existence of special classes was perceived as unclear and an obstacle to inclusive education, highlighting the need for improvements in teacher training systems and the establishment of legal regulations for solidifying the identity of special classes.
