Summary

This study explored the meaning of childcare teachers recognized by pre-service childcare teachers through metaphor analysis. Data collected from 213 pre-service childcare teachers in Gyeonggi-do revealed three main categories of roles: 'helper', 'professional', and 'instructor', encompassing 11 types. Pre-service teachers tended to perceive childcare teachers as 'supporters', 'guardians', and 'guides'.
