Summary

This paper discusses the principles and applications of advanced liquid crystal devices for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) displays. High-dynamic-range (HDR) mini-LED backlit LCDs significantly improve image quality and brightness while reducing power consumption for VR displays, and high-resolution LCoS is suitable for AR displays even in bright environments.
