Summary

This article proposes a novel variable-bandwidth extended state observer (VBESO) to estimate external disturbances for a class of nonlinear systems with measurement noise. The VBESO automatically adjusts its bandwidth based on the output estimation error, achieving a tradeoff between estimation accuracy and robustness to measurement noise. Furthermore, VBESO-based state-feedback control is applied to a drag-free spacecraft hardware-in-loop experiment platform, and simulation and experiment results demonstrate that the proposed VBESO improves tolerance to measurement noise and achieves a balance between transient and steady-state performance.
