This course introduces various automotive propulsion systems to meet more stringent emissions regulations of vehicles. This course covers the basic principles, major parameters for thermal efficiency and performance, requirements of internal combustion engines, system architecture and merits of hybrid systems which are consisted of engine and motors. And it also covers battery system for electric vehicles and PEM fuel cell stack and balance of plants to maintain optimal performance for automotive application. In this course, the following two objects, which recently undergo significant development, will be introduced: electric-powered vertical take-off/landing (VTOL) aircraft and high-speed compound rotorcraft. Regarding an electric-powered VTOL aircraft, its distributed electric powerplant will be discussed including hybrid configuration. Its technical obstacles will be discussed further, such as battery life and transition capability between hover and forward flight. Regarding a compound rotorcraft, a coaxial rotor configuration including the rigid blade/hub and lift offset will be discussed, along with a tiltrotor aircraft. Their multi-disciplinary design, powerplant (electrical motor and battery), noise will be dealt with. Future automobiles are characterized by electrification and use of zero-carbon fuel, such as hydrogen, which requires different design approaches as compared to conventional internal combustion engine vehicles. This lecture will introduce two prominent future automobile categories, battery electric vehicle and hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle, dealing with the core components, such as battery, motor, and fuel cell, as well as the whole vehicle energy flow architecture, by providing the working principles and the recent technology trends. This course deals with the driving system of electric tractors, which has recently become an issue in off-road machinery such as agricultural machinery and construction equipment, and consists of three topics. The first topic is batteries, and covers a wide range of battery introductions, from basic theories such as battery operation principles and capacity selection to BMS(battery management system) & TMS(thermal management system) applications. The second topic is inverters, and covers the operating principle and circuit analysis of DC-DC converters as well as inverters that convert DC current from batteries into 3-phase AC currents required by electric motors. The last topic is electric motors, and the operating principles of electric motors and the characteristics of DC motors such as PMDC and BLDC motors, and AC motors such as induction motors and synchronous motors are covered.본 과목은 항공기에서 심장부라 할 수 있는 동력장치를 다루는 과목으로서 항공기에서 쓰이는 제트추진기관의 전반적인 종류(turbo prop, turbo shaft, turbo fan, turbo jet, ram jet, scram jet 등), 특징 및 원리에 대하여 다루게 된다. 또한, 요즈음 초소형 비행체(MAV, Micro Aerial Vehicle)에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는데, 이러한 초소형 비행체의 동력원으로 사용 가능한 마이크로 엔진(micro-engine)에 대하여 소개한다. 그리고, 항공기의 엔진도 환경 친화적인 엔진개발이 요구되고 있으므로 배기가스 및 소음저감을 위한 방법을 소개한다.
이 교과목에서는 최근 그 발전이 급격하게 이루어지고 있는 전기동력 수직 이착륙기와 고속 복합형 회전익기의 다분야 설계, 전기 추진 동력원(전기모터, 배터리), 소음 측면에 대한 고찰이 소개된다. 전기동력 추진 회전익기에서는 하이브리드 방식을 포함한 분산 전기 추진, 배터리 수명, 그리고 수직 이착륙과 천이 비행 등의 기술적 측면에 초점을 맞추어 학습한다. 고속 복합형 회전인기는 강체 블레이드/허브 및 lift offset에 의거한 동축 반전, 틸트로터 등 수직 이착륙과 장거리 고속 비행 능력의 달성 과정을 학습한다. 학습한 내용을 적용한 전기동력 추진 수직 이착륙기의 시제품을 설계와 실험을 통한 성능 측정 실습이 수행된다.
농업에 이용되는 동력원의 종류, 내연기관의 구조 및 원리·성능 및 시험법, 농업용 트랙터의 구조·견인이론·성능 및 시험법을 다룬다.
피로 파괴 모형, 피로 수명 예측, 신뢰도 등 기계 설계의 고급 내용과 변속 장치, PTO, 전동라인, 로터리-트랙터, 로외 장비 등의 기본 설계 이론과 방법 등을 다룬다. 특히 컴퓨터 설계 기법을 강조하여 다룬다.
